COLUMBIA CITY —Michael Lude is the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center’s latest artist of photos for its ‘Focus on the Arts’ initiative.Lude’s work debuted in an artist’s reception last week, and will remain on display through the end of October.

“We are excited to showcase Michael’s work at the Chamber during the month of October,” Jennifer Romano, executive director of the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center, said in a statement. “Michael is incredibly talented and we are honored to share his work with the community.”

A resident of Columbia City, Lude opened his first official business at the age of 19, selling artwork, attending events and charities as a portrait and caricature artist, as well as competing in national juried shows. He continued his art-focused business during college and expanded into illustration for publications and newspapers while majoring in art management, fine art and studio art and business management.

Today, Lude is co-owner of Artists At Work and is a game designer.Locally, Lude is known for his caricature work, recently sharing his work at the Columbia City Parks Department’s Father-Daughter Dance, the United Way of Whitley County, local events and at the Whitley County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center’s 2017 EXPO. Lude’s drawings were featured on the cover of the 2017 Whitley County Community Guide.

“As an artist I am well rounded in many different areas, but my number one love is oil paintings and portraiture,” he said in the statement. “I mix creativity with realism, so my art may speak to my audience and multiple levels. There is nothing else in the world I would rather do than create artwork and share it with the world.

“I currently have my own art studio in town where I focus on painting personal artwork for my clients, like portraits, caricatures and other personal requests. I’m developing new ways of creating and selling art. I absolutely love what I do and couldn’t be happier.”
